DEVIANT WOLFE BREWING
HEATHER ORPHEIM | BREWER
In high school, I started working as a hostess and a server at a local sports bar near my house. By the time I turned 21, they had New Belgium Brewing Company - Fat Tire on draft. Most of my coworkers were drinking Bud Light, and I was immediately hooked on Fat Tire (my first craft beer). From that moment on, I wanted to try any and all styles I could get my hands on. I heard there was a brewery opening up in my hometown - Winter Springs, FL. I was ecstatic and applied to be a bartender immediately. I GOT THE JOB! I was one of the original hires and a Bar Lead at Red Cypress Brewing (RIP) from September 2015 - March 2018. I grew tremendously there, and I learned a lot about beer. I left Red Cypress Brewing to pursue a career in brewing beer. Deviant Wolfe Brewing was about to open up in Historic Downtown Sanford. I was hired on as a bartender and quickly moved my way to the back by volunteering to clean out the mash tun before my bar shift every Wednesday for months. I quickly graduated to CIPing tanks and transferring beer to brewing beer solo. I have been brewing since March 2018. While I am not scheduled to bartend as much anymore, I still love to pick up bar shifts. I also help out anywhere else I can, especially with planning events. Be on the look out for my annual event that happens every November - Day of the Deviants (a night of metal and beer in the back alley behind the brewery). I am very fortunate to work for a brewery that allows me to express my love of beer and metal without question. When I am not doing anything brewery related, I am likely walking my dog a million times, attempting to roller skate on nearby trails, playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends, going to a metal show, or watching a horror movie on Shudder. |
