My love for beer started in the mid 90’s, when we used to frequent a place in Tampa called the Biltmore Station – it was here that I had my first taste of a craft beer, Raspberry Cream Ale by Blue Moon! From there it has just blossomed, I’ve been amazed by all the different styles of beer out there and the creativity of brewers is seemingly endless. When my husband & I go on vacation, it always centers around “where can we stay for maximum brewery visitation?” So naturally I wanted to start creating my own beers and flavors.
I’m a nurse anesthetist by day, and love the science behind the beer as well as the art. When I heard about the USFSP brewing arts program, I jumped at the chance to learn more, and received a certificate from that program in February 2019. I’ve belonged to several homebrew clubs over the years as well, and one of the things I love most about this community is the genuine love of the craft everyone has, and the willingness to share their knowledge and help others. Then one day after a meeting, a friend said, “Hey, when are you guys going to open your own brewery?” And we said, “let’s do it!”
We started searching for a location in 2019, but unfortunately our town has pretty narrow zoning regulations for craft breweries. With some help from a local real estate company, we drafted a proposal to expand the zoning, and finally two years later it was approved! We now have a property under contract and can’t wait to start serving Hydrosaurus Brewing creations to the community!
