INVASIVE SPECIES BREWING
LIZ DUTRA | HOP FARMER
Liz currently works as a marine biologist at NOAA/RSMAS. She is the wife of Josh Levitt, owner and co-brewer at Invasive Species Brewing. Liz gained most of her beer experience overthe years brewing with the Invasive Species homebrew club. She enjoys collaborating on recipes and assisting the boys in the brewery when they need it. However, her true passion is growing hops. Armed with her biology background, Liz is currently the “Southern Most Hop Farmer” growing over 60 hop plants right in Oakland Park, FL. She is growing varieties like Cascade, Cashmere, and Zeus just to name a few. She serves as integral part of the Invasive Species team as they strive to use the most local ingredients possible. She is also growing a number of tropical fruits, lemongrass and cranberry hibiscus. You can try their “Thai Lawnmower” brewed with locally grown lemongrass in their taproom. Their mission is to use fresh and local ingredients whenever possible. Check out the hop farm located at the Urban Farming Institute. |
